The bitternut hickory is a tough but sweet bitternut that is easy to grow. They will grow to maturity in about 10 weeks, so for this recipe you will want to plan to start planting about 10 weeks beforehand to get the best harvests. I used a mixture of two different varieties of hickory nuts so the nuts are a bit nuttier.

If youve got a big garden you can grow the hickory in. If you dont have that space (or not the space) you can consider buying your hickory seed. There are plenty of reputable nurseries that will sell you a large package of seeds.

But I’m also in the know about this tree, as it turns out, because of a conversation I had with a friend the other day. I was talking to him about how I really like to eat all my meals out of my back yard. He was saying that he had a friend that was growing this stuff and they were taking the seeds that he had and planting them in an area that they thought would be good for hickory.

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine about how he was finding it very difficult to find places to eat outside of the city. He was telling me how he would go into one of the big chain restaurants and ask for a hickory sandwich. They would try and get you to eat a hickory sandwich instead.

The only problem with this is that hickory is a tough plant to grow. You can’t just go and purchase a few plants like that and then plant them. You have to have a plan and not just buy a few things that you’re not going to use.

I think that bit of advice is pretty appropriate for our situation. It is very hard to find a place that has a hickory sandwich menu, and I could count on one hand the number of restaurants that have hickory sandwiches. To make matters worse, the menus are always out of date. It’s not uncommon for a restaurant to have been closed for a while, and their menu has to be replaced. So we had to find an alternate way to get our dinner.

One of the easiest ways to get dinner is to go to your local drive-thru and order your sandwich. Most places will have them frozen, and you pay by the pound. Then you can take it home.
